Idols SA 2023 Top 8: Season 19 contestants revealed

The Idols SA 2023 Top 8 contestants of Season 19 have been announced today in episode 11 of the season on Saturday 16 September 2023.

This comes after the announcement of the Top 9 last week in episode 10 of the season.

The Idols SA 2023 Top 8 contestants of Season 19 are; Thando, Sena, Envic, Niikiey, Thabo, Princess, Nkosi, and Faith.

Sadly, 28-year-old Lungelo Motaung from Johannesburg, Gauteng has been eliminated from Idols SA Season 19 after securing the least amount of votes this week.

Group Performance

Today’s live show kicked off with a group performance of the Top 9 contestants performing a powerful rendition of “Abalele” by Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa featuring Ami Faku.

Guest Performance

We were then treated to a guest performance by Mzansi power duo, Inkabi Zezwe, made up of Big Zulu and Sjava, who performed their 2023 hit single, “Sayona”.

Idols SA 2023 Top 8 Performances

This week’s live performances were themed, “The Legendary Lionel Richie”, which saw the Idols SA Season 19 Top 8 contestants perform timeless hit songs from the soulful catalogue of the legendary Lionel Richie.

Thando

Thando was the night’s first performer, as well as the first contestant to make it to the Top 8.

Thando stepped up his game and unleashed his own rendition of “Love, Oh Love” by Lionel Richie.

Sena

In a dazzling performance, Sena bolted on the Idols SA live stage with “You Are” by Lionel Richie.

Sena’s rendition not only showcased her vocal brilliance but also conveyed the song’s heartfelt emotion, leaving judges convinced that she’s been taking their critiques seriously.

Envic

Freshly announced into the Top 8, Envic stepped on stage and performed a soul rendition of the timeless classic, “I Call It Love” by Lionel Richie.

Niikiey

Niikiey took the stage and serenaded the audience with an unforgettable rendition of “Easy” by Commodores.

With a voice that exuded timeless charm, Niikiey captured the essence of the song’s heartfelt lyrics and rich musicality.

Thabo

Fresh from inspiring two back-to-back spiritual experiences with sessions marked by energetic praise, Thabo dove into a different world with just as much depth.

He served a powerful and emotionally charged performance on the Idols SA live stage with “We Are the World” by USA for Africa.

Princess

From Bushbuckridge with love, talent, and stage presence! Princess delivered a mesmerizing performance of “Just Go” by Lionel Richie featuring Akon.

Princess’ rendition not only showcased her remarkable vocal prowess but also captured the emotional essence of the song, leaving judges and viewers alike in awe.

Princess’s unforgettable interpretation of this classic reaffirmed her place as a standout talent on the show.

Nkosi

Soaked in the glee of making it to the Top 8 of Idols SA Season 19, Nkosi stepped on stage and delivered a poignant rendition of “Ballerina Girl” by Lionel Richie.

Although the performance marked a departure from his Nkosi’s essential Afro-Soul leanings, his emotional depth left the audience in awe.

Faith

A seasoned lover of throwbacks himself, Faith graced the stage with the timeless hit, “Penny Lover”, by Lionel Richie.
