Chenai has returned to Australian Idol for redemption having auditioned for Season 8 in 2023 but didn’t progress to the next stage because she failed to impress judges Amy Shark, Harry Connick Jr., Meghan Trainor, and Kyle Sandilands with her audition performance.
Making her first stage appearance at five years of age, Chenai Boucher is a born entertainer. More than just the music, Chenai’s performances keep the crowd entertained and engaged until the final note.
Drawing inspiration from great storytellers such as Dolly Parton, John Mayer, Jimmy Barnes, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, Christopher Drew, Pink, and Lady Gaga to name a few, Chenai brings soulful rock to the stage in a powerhouse performance.
Chenai has a soulful rock sound. Participated in numerous musical events throughout Australia since the age of 9 (in 2006).
Her love of performing live really ignites a passion in all who witness her presence on stage.
Season 8
Audition
During the Season 8 auditions, Chenai Boucher performed “My Immortal” by Evanescence.
She received two ‘Yeses’ from judges Harry Connick Jr. and Amy Shark, and two ‘Nos’ from Meghan Trainor and Kyle Sandilands – thereby ending her hopes of getting into the Top 50.
Season 9
Audition
During the auditions, Chenai Boucher performed “River” by Bishop Briggs.
She received a ‘No’ from Kyle Sandilands, and two ‘Yeses’ from Amy Shark and Marcia Hines.
At the end of the audition day, the judges rewarded Chenai Boucher with a Golden Ticket to the Top 30.
Top 30
During the Top 30 week, there were three performance challenges namely; “Chorus Line Challenge”, “Group Challenge”, and “Solo Challenge”.
Part 1
For the “Chorus Line Challenge”, Chenai Boucher was in a group with Ripley Alexander, Eli Parr, Jackson Smith, and Gab Hester.
She sang “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons and the judges told her that she did enough to advance to the second challenge of the Top 30 Week.
Part 2
For the “Group Challenge”, Chenai was in a group with Gab Hester and TJ Zimba.
She sang “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry and was put On Notice by the judges but later advanced to the third and final challenge of the Top 30 Week.
Part 3
For the “Solo Challenge”, Chenai performed “Kryptonite” by 3 Doors Down and advanced to the Top 21.
Top 21
Chenai Boucher performed “Zombie” by The Cranberries but was eliminated from the competition and missed out on advancing to the Top 12 finalists.
