The Australian Idol 2024 Top 8 contestants were revealed on Tuesday 5 March 2024 during episode 20 of Season 9.
For the past two nights (Sunday 3 and Monday 4 March 2024) during episodes 18 and 19 of Australian Idol Season 9, the Top 10 contestants performed live for Australia’s vote under the theme, “Judges Song Contest”.
On each of the two nights, a single contestant was saved by judges Marcia Hines, Amy Shark, and Kyle Sandilands using the ‘Judges Save’.
After Group 1 of the Top 10 performed live on Sunday, Drea Onamade received the ‘Judges Save’ and automatically advanced to the Top 8, she did not need Australia’s votes.
Similarly, after Group 2 of the Top 10 performed live on Monday, the judges used the ‘Judges Save’ to save Amy Reeves who also automatically advanced to the Top 8, she did not need Australia’s votes.
The rest of the contestants in the Top 10 had to wait for the voting results from the Australian public.

Australian Idol Season 9 continues on Sunday 10 March 2024 at 7 p.m. on Channel 7 and 7plus as contestants perform for spots in the Top 6.
