He was a contestant on Australian Idol Season 9 in 2024.

He started music by learning to play the drums, of which he did a few solo performances and worked with others in a band.
After mastering the drums, he then learned to play the guitar. It was playing the guitar that he started to take an interest in singing.

Jesse Lazaroo auditioned as a wildcard contestant discovered by Amy Shark.
While travelling to Fremantle, Western Australia, Amy discovered two buskers, Jesse Lazaroo and Krystal Biddulph in Perth.
For his audition, Jesse performed “Talking to the Moon” by Bruno Mars. He received a ‘YES’ from judge Amy Shark.
At the end of the audition day, the judges rewarded Jesse Lazaroo with a Golden Ticket to the Top 30.
Top 30
During the Top 30 week, there were three performance challenges namely; “Chorus Line Challenge”, “Group Challenge”, and “Solo Challenge”.
Part 1
For the “Chorus Line Challenge”, Jesse Lazaroo was in a group with Denvah Baker-Moller, Trent Richardson, Billy Menhennet, and Tyler Hammill.
He sang “Castle on the Hill” by Ed Sheeran and the judges told him that he did enough to advance to the second challenge of the Top 30 Week.
Part 2
For the “Group Challenge”, Jesse was in a group with Natasha Rose and Jake Carlson.
He sang “Counting Stars” by OneRepublic and advanced to the third and final challenge of the Top 30 Week.
Part 3
For the “Solo Challenge”, Jesse performed “Say Something” by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera.
He was put On Notice by the judges and eventually eliminated from the competition, thereby not advancing to the Top 21.
