Audition
Dylan Wright performed an acoustic rendition of “Better Be Home Soon” by Crowded House during the auditions.
His performance left judges Marcia Hines, Kyle Sandilands, and Amy Shark in tears as they had just witnessed a star on the rise.
Dedicating the audition to his late mother, an amateur opera singer who encouraged Dylan’s talent and took him to see Crowded House live, Dylan stated: “one day I’ll be coming back home to her.”
Judge Marcia Hines commented on Dylan’s audition:
“One of the most heartfelt performances I’ve seen because you are singing it to someone you love. That’s how I felt about my mum.”
Judge Kyle Sandilands admitted:
“I don’t usually cry in the presence of other men. What a sweetheart you are.”
Judge Amy Shark declared:
“I think you’re a superstar.”
Dylan Wright received three ‘Yeses’ from the judges and at the end of the audition day, they rewarded him with a Golden Ticket to the Top 30.

During the Top 30 week, there were three performance challenges namely; “Chorus Line Challenge”, “Group Challenge”, and “Solo Challenge”.
Part 1
For the “Chorus Line Challenge”, Dylan was in a group with Jake Carlson, Kiani Smith, Amy Reeves, and Bethany Byrne.
He sang “Always Remember Us This Way” by Lady Gaga and the judges informed him that he did enough to advance to the second challenge of the Top 30 Week.
Part 2
For the “Group Challenge”, Dylan was in a group with Kobe White and Amy Reeves.
He sang “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia and advanced to the third and final challenge of the Top 30 Week.
Part 3
For the “Solo Challenge”, Dylan performed “Sorrento Moon (I Remember)” by Tina Arena and advanced to the Top 21.
Top 21
Dylan performed “Walking in Memphis” by Marc Cohn and advanced to the Top 12 finalists.
Top 12
Dylan performed “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers.
His performance impressed the judges who used the “Judges Save” to save him, thereby advancing to the Top 10.
Top 10
Dylan performed “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
He received enough votes from the viewers and advanced to the Top 8.

Dylan performed “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men.
When the voting results were revealed on Monday 11 March 2024, Dylan was in the Bottom 4 but advanced to the Top 6.
