Dylan Wright performed an acoustic rendition of “Better Be Home Soon” by Crowded House during the auditions.

His performance left judges Marcia Hines, Kyle Sandilands, and Amy Shark in tears as they had just witnessed a star on the rise.

Dedicating the audition to his late mother, an amateur opera singer who encouraged Dylan’s talent and took him to see Crowded House live, Dylan stated: “one day I’ll be coming back home to her.”

Judge Marcia Hines commented on Dylan’s audition:

“One of the most heartfelt performances I’ve seen because you are singing it to someone you love. That’s how I felt about my mum.”

Judge Kyle Sandilands admitted:

“I don’t usually cry in the presence of other men. What a sweetheart you are.”

Judge Amy Shark declared:

“I think you’re a superstar.”

Dylan Wright received three ‘Yeses’ from the judges and at the end of the audition day, they rewarded him with a Golden Ticket to the Top 30.
