Idols SA 2023 Top 9: Season 19 contestants revealed

The Idols SA 2023 Top 9 contestants of Season 19 have been announced today in episode 10 of the season on Saturday 9 September 2023.

This comes after the announcement of the Top 10 last week in episode 9 of the season.

The Idols SA 2023 Top 9 contestants of Season 19 are; Niikiey, Lungelo, Faith, Nkosi, Thando, Princess, Thabo, Envic, and Sena.

On a sad note, 24-year-old Lungile Mthethwa from Benoni, Gauteng has been eliminated from Idols SA Season 19 after securing the least amount of votes this week.

Idols SA 2023 Top 9 Performances

This week’s live performances were themed, “Wedding Playlist”, which saw the Idols SA Season 19 Top 9 contestants perform beautiful wedding songs.

Niikiey

Niikiey impressed once again with her powerful vocals by giving a performance worthy of some lobola applause.

Niikiey displayed how versatile she is as she performed “Mmatswale” by Malaika.

Lungelo

Lungelo owned the Idols SA live stage as she celebrated her spot in the Top 9 by setting the mood just right with her own rendition of “At Last” by Etta James.

Faith

Faith kept his winning formula of gratifying when taking on South African iconic artists, he performed “Matswale” by Caiphus Semenya.

Nkosi

We welcomed Nkosi to the Top 9 with a performance of a classic wedding sing-along jam.

Nkosi switched it up while maintaining the mellow energy that we know him for as he delivered beautiful melodies on “Ekhwen Lami” by Phila Dlozi featuring Mthunzi.

Thando

Thando followed his ovation-worthy performance in the Top 10 with some breathtaking vocals on a Bob Marley hit.

Thando performed “Is This Love” by Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Princess

Princess surely knows how to sing a wedding song.

With her striking vocals and presence on stage, Princess made us feel like we were witnessing a union as she delivered a stunning rendition of “Phakade” by Lira.

Thabo

Thabo took the lucky number seven spot in the Top 9.

He then went mellow and slow as he showed off his vocal acrobatics and captivated everyone with a wonderful rendition of “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri.

Envic

Envic serenaded us with a timeless hit that assures another leave-it-all-on-the-stage moment.

He let his smooth and flawless take on songs shine once again as he performed “When I First Saw You” by Jamie Foxx featuring Beyoncé.

Sena

After taking the last spot in the Top 9, Sena delivered riffs and runs worthy to close the live show.

Sena came with a nice groove topped with beautiful vocals when she stepped onto the stage for her offering of the timeless love hit, “All I Do” by Stevie Wonder.
