During the auditions, TJ Zimba performed “Location” by Khalid.

He received three ‘Yeses’ from judges Amy Shark, Marcia Hines, and Kyle Sandilands.

Immediately after his performance, Amy Shark suggested to the other two judges that they should just hand over a Golden Ticket to TJ Zimba.

And so the judges decided to give him a Golden Ticket so that he could skip the waiting room and go straight to the Top 30.

Top 30

During the Top 30 week, there were three performance challenges namely; “Chorus Line Challenge”, “Group Challenge”, and “Solo Challenge”.

Part 1

For the “Chorus Line Challenge”, TJ Zimba was in a group with Kobe White, Imogen Spendlove, Jess Chalmers, and Jonathan Wells.

He sang “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd and the judges told him that he did enough to advance to the second challenge of the Top 30 Week.

Part 2

For the “Group Challenge”, TJ Zimba was in a group with Gab Hester and Chenai Boucher.

He sang “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry and was put On Notice by the judges but later advanced to the third and final challenge of the Top 30 Week.

Part 3

For the “Solo Challenge”, TJ Zimba performed “Airplanes” by B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore and advanced to the Top 21.

Top 21

TJ Zimba performed “Peaches” by Justin Bieber featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon and advanced to the Top 12 finalists.

Top 12

TJ Zimba performed “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock.

When the voting results were announced on Tuesday 27 February 2024, TJ Zimba was in the Bottom 2 with Imogen Spendlove.

He however advanced to the Top 10 because he had more votes than Imogen.

Top 10

TJ Zimba performed “You’re the Voice” by John Farnham.

When the voting results were announced on Tuesday 5 March 2024, TJ Zimba was in the Bottom 2 with Ivana Ilic.

And because he had received fewer votes than Ivana, TJ Zimba was eliminated from the competition, missing the opportunity to join the Top 8.
