Thando Mdluli | Idols South Africa

Thando Mdluli is a South African singer from Orange Farm, Gauteng.

He was a contestant on Idols SA Season 19 in 2023 where he finished in 7th place.

He is 22 years old.

Coming from a musical family because both his parents were singers, Thando describes himself as “a ball of energy”.

He has been dedicated to his craft and passion since deciding to become a singer in grade three.

He says music is his calling, but the journey has been a bumpy one, with the muso feeling he has taken two steps back for every step forward. “I believe Idols SA is the greatest platform to launch my career,” he says.

The list of musicians he is inspired by is dominated by former Idols South Africa contestants: season 16’s Brandon, season 11’s Lloyiso, former winner Karabo, and platinum seller Shekhinah.

He also admires SAMA nominee Langa Mavuso.

What is Thando bringing to the Idols SA stage? “I’m here to make the audience happy – they are the most important people. I’m going to make sure I leave a mark. I want to be remembered.”
