Idols SA Season 19

Idols South Africa Season 19 premiered on Saturday 8 July 2023, it aired for four months and ended on Saturday 4 November 2023.

The winner was Thabo Ndlovu and the runner-up was Princess MacDonald.

Idols SA Season 19 aired every Saturday on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) at 6 p.m., thereafter on Mzansi Wethu (DStv channel 163) at 7:30 p.m.

It was the very last season of Idols South Africa after 21 years of airing on South Africa’s television screens.

Background

On the evening of Sunday 5 February 2023, it was announced through a video promo posted on Twitter that Idols South Africa was airing in 2023 for one last season, Season 19.

In the video clip, it was also revealed that online auditions for Idols SA Season 19 would start on Sunday 12 February 2023.

On Thursday 15 June 2023, ProVerb was in the studio laying down some Idols SA Season 19 farewell promo voice-overs.

On Thursday 22 June 2023, Mzansi Magic announced that the start date of Idols SA Season 19 is Saturday 8 July 2023. They tweeted;

The time has come 💙.

The show was also moved from its usual Sunday slot to Saturday evenings on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) at 6 p.m. and on Mzansi Wethu (DStv channel 163) at 7:30 p.m.

With two decades of introducing different voices to the world, launching countless careers, and changing judges and big names attached to it, the final season of Idols South Africa was described as the most sensational season.
