Audition
During the auditions, Isaac McCallum performed “Bruises” by Lewis Capaldi, a performance that left its mark on the judges.
Marcia Hines said:
“I think you’re one of the best vocalists I’ve heard for a long time.”
Kyle Sandilands added:
“That was totally not what I expected. You’re a rough diamond.”
Isaac McCallum revealed:
“My childhood was a little rough, living in housing and that sort of thing. I was homeless for six months. It was pretty crazy.”
“What kept me going at my lowest was my singing and my family, they’ve always been there for me. I am 100% ready to stop pushing trollies and I’m ready for that big stage.”
Isaac receives three ‘Yeses’ from judges Amy Shark, Kyle Sandilands, and Marcia Hines.
At the end of the audition day, the judges rewarded “Bruises” Isaac McCallum with a Golden Ticket to the Top 30.
Top 30
During the Top 30 week, there were three performance challenges namely; “Chorus Line Challenge”, “Group Challenge”, and “Solo Challenge”.
Part 1
For the “Chorus Line Challenge”, Isaac McCallum was in a group with Kym Miaco, Saoirse Harding, Prayer Corby, and Jet Cameron.
He sang “Grenade” by Bruno Mars and the judges informed him that he did enough to advance to the second challenge of the Top 30 Week.
Part 2
For the “Group Challenge”, Isaac was in a group with Bethany Byrne and Denvah Baker-Moller.
He sang “Perfect” by Pink and was put On Notice by the judges but later advanced to the third and final challenge of the Top 30 Week.
Part 3
For the “Solo Challenge”, Isaac performed “7 Years” by Lukas Graham and was put On Notice by the judges but later advanced to the Top 21.
Top 21
Isaac McCallum performed “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur and was given a FastPass by judge Amy Shark to advance to the Top 12 finalists.
