Background
A native of Port Hawkesbury in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Adam Cooke was born in 1972.
He has been blind in his left eye pretty much since birth and nearly lost his right eye at the age of 20.
Despite poor eye health, Adam is a musician, humorist, and journalist with a unique perspective on Canada.
As a journalist, Adam has been providing freelance on-air reports to the CBC’s morning radio show in his native Cape Breton for more than a decade.
He also completed a 12-year stint of telling the stories of ordinary Canadians via his work for The Reporter, the weekly community newspaper based in his hometown of Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia.
As a musician, Adam has spent years touring around Canada’s East Coast, writing, recording, and performing songs about things that make Canada tick. Some are serious, some are satirical.
