Amy Louise Billings (born 14 May 1986), popularly known as Amy Shark, is an Australian indie pop singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has been a judge on Australian Idol since Season 8 in 2023.

Amy Shark is of Hungarian and English descent, she was born on 14 May 1986, on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
Her father separated from her mother, Robyn, when Amy was just 1 or 2 years old.
Amy’s mother soon got married to her stepfather David Cushway.
The newly wedded couple raised Amy Shark and her younger half-sibling on the Gold Coast.
Amy attended Southport State High School, where she performed in studied film, theatre, and played guitar in an all-female punk-band.
In 2013, Amy Shark got married to New Zealand-born Gold Coast resident, Shane Billings.
After the huge success of Amy Shark’s 2016 hit single “Adore”, her birth father attempted to re-establish contact with her.
Amy replied to her birth father’s efforts with; “Haven’t heard from my father in 15 years until now. It must suck knowing ur daughter got all this way on her very own! Now beat it! I’m busy.”
Australian Idol
On Wednesday 28 September 2022, it was announced that Amy Shark would join Kyle Sandilands, Meghan Trainor, and Harry Connick Jr. as a judge in Australian Idol Season 8 after Seven Network acquired rights to the show.
Australian Idol was initially televised on Network Ten for its first seven seasons from 2003 to 2009.
Since then, Amy has been a judge on the show.
