Top 5 Contestants of Idols SA 2022 (Season 18)

The Idols SA Season 18 Top 5 contestants have been revealed today on Sunday 16 October 2022 during episode 14 of the season.

Last week on Sunday 9 October 2022 during episode 13 of Idols SA Season 18, the Top 6 contestants performed two songs each under the themes, “Lifesong” and “Joyous Celebration”.

The Idols SA 2022 Top 5 contestants are; Zee, Ty Loner, Thapelo, Nozi and Mpilwenhle.

Sadly, 25-year-old Noxolo Mthethwa from Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal, has been eliminated from Idols SA Season 18 today.

Elimination is the most unfortunate part of the Idols South Africa competition, but this is not really the end for Noxolo.

We wish Noxolo all the best in her future endeavors, especially her music career.

Idols SA 2022 Top 5 Performance

This Sunday, the Idols SA Season 18 Top 5 contestants have each performed two songs, a song from Babyface’s songbook and a second song from some newer Mzansi music.

Zee

For her first performance today, Zee tackled a guy who has won 12 Grammy awards. Zee has performed her own rendition of the Babyface song “Breathe Again” performed by the brilliant Toni Braxton.

For her second and last performance of the evening, Zee took on an amapiano song. She has performed the massive “Abalele” by Kabza de Small and DJ Maphorisa featuring Ami Faku.

Ty Loner

For his first performance of the evening, Ty Loner has performed “The Color Of Love” by the massive Boyz II Men.

For his second performance of the evening, Ty Loner made a brave choice of tackling “Mgani” by A-Reece.

Thapelo

Thapelo was the third contestant to be announced among the Top 5 this evening, he then performed Boyz II Men’s “End Of The Road” for his first performance of the day.

For his second live performance of the evening, Thapelo got funky as he performed “Sponky Ponky” by Bayete and Jabu Khanyile.

Nozi

During the first round of live performances today, Nozi delivered a wonderful performance of “Never Gonna Let You Go” by Faith Evans.

For her second round live performance this evening, Nozi delivered her own version of “Asibe Happy” by Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa featuring Ami Faku.

Mpilwenhle

The fifth and final contestant to be announced among the Idols SA Season 18 Top 5 this evening, Mpilwenhle performed Toni Braxton’s song, “Another Sad Love Song”.

During the second round of live performances tonight, Mpilwenhle performed her own rendition of “Dali Nguwe” by Wanitwa Mos and Master KG featuring Nkosazana Daughter, Basetsana and Obeey Amor.
