Top 2 Contestants of Idols SA 2022 (Season 18)

The Idols SA Season 18 Top 2 contestants have been revealed today on Sunday 6 November 2022 during episode 17 of the season.

Last week on Sunday 30 October 2022 during episode 16 of Idols SA Season 18, the Top 3 contestants performed three songs each under the themes, “Divas and Divos”, “My Audition Song” and “Judges’ Choice”.

The Idols SA Season 18 Top 2 contestants are; Thapelo Molomo and Nozi Sibiya.

Regrettably, 24-year-old Mpilwenhle Mokopu from Katlehong, Gauteng has been eliminated from Idols SA Season 18.

We bid farewell to Mpilwenhle but she is most definitely going to be one to watch in the music industry.

But before being evicted from the competition, tonight Mpilwenhle dropped the Idols SA premiere of her brand new single “Ngiyazifela”.

Mpilwenhle’s performance was extremely refreshing to the extent that judge Somizi Mhlongo couldn’t hide his love and excitement for the song.

Guest performances

Musa Keys, Konke and Chley opened the Idols SA live show today just right. The trio dropped a stunning performance of a medley of “M’nike” and “Selema (Po Po)”.

Back from Idols SA Season 16, Ndoni Mseleku performed her chart-topping single “Angfuni Omunye”.

Group performance

Back again on the Idols SA live stage, seven of the former Idols SA Season 18 finalists (Ty Loner, Zee Arnolds, Noxolo Mthethwa, Kabelo Makhetha, Ceejay Canvass, Tesmin-Robyn Khanye and Lerato Matsabu) returned to deliver an epic group performance of “Paris” by Q-Mark and TpZee featuring Afriikan Papi.

Idols SA 2022 Top 2 Performance

This Sunday, the Idols SA 2022 Top 2 contestants have each performed three songs. The songs are from the following themes; “New singles”, “Stripped-down Mzansi classics” and “Favourite song of the season”.

Thapelo

For his first performance of the evening, Thapelo performed his brand new single “Phanda”.

Thapelo was congratulated by judge Thembi Seete after delivering the world debut of his first official single on the Idols SA stage.

For his second performance of the evening, Thapelo performed “Thanayi” by the great Hugh Masekela with the hope of scoring enough votes this week that will enable him to win the competition.

Thapelo’s performance was so good that he received praise from judge Somizi.

For his third and final performance of the evening, Thapelo performed his favourite song of the entire season. He did The Beatles proud by taking on their hit single, “Let It Be”.

Judge JR was clearly impressed by Thapelo’s take on The Beatles’ song, even saying that he thinks this is the toughest Idols SA Top 2 ever.

Nozi

For her first performance of the evening, Nozi treated the Idols SA audiences to the very first performance of her debut single “Idliso”.

Judge JR Bogopa thought this was a good song for Nozi voice.

For her second performance of the evening, Nozi delivered her own rendition of “Moments Away” by Mango Groove.

And as expected, she received slack-jawed reactions from all the judges.

For her third and final performance of the evening, Nozi performed her favourite song of the season by delivering a great rendition of “Giving Myself” by Jennifer Hudson.

“It’s going to be a very tough one for South Africa to choose.” Judge Somizi stated after Nozi’s final performance tonight.
