Idols SA 2018 Season 14 Top 5 Contestants

Our Idols SA 2018 top 5 contestants have been revealed.

Thando was the first contestant on stage this evening as she looked sexy as ever and bust out some serious power vocals performing Jennifer Hudson’s ‘Spotlight’.

Next on stage was Niyaaz who was through to the Idols SA top 5, he then just schooled Zweli Mdluli on how to properly do justice to Sam Smith’s ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’.

King B then gave us an ‘Irreplaceable’ performance of Beyonce’s number one hit slaying every single note and riff.

Then came Yanga who had just snatched an Idols SA Top 5 spot, it was so nice to hear ‘What Is Love’ by the Empire Cast done so beautifully too. Our guest Judge Dr. Mathew Knowles said she’s one to watch.

And after 14 million votes cast this week, we had to say goodbye to the beautiful Nosipho given the fact that she received the least number of votes this week. On the other hand Thato had bagged a spot in the Top 5, he then had the whole audience singing their lungs out to ‘Inkomo’ by The Soil getting a standing ovation at the end of his set.

And for her second performance of the evening, Thando gets high-praise from all the Judges including Dr. Mathew Knowles who said she has the look of a super-star down to a tee.

For his second performance of the evening, Niyaaz had us falling in love with every note performing ‘Lost Without You’ by Robin Thicke. Dr. Mathew Knowles encouraged him to keep “singing from his heart and not his head”.

Emotions then ran high in the State Theatre after King B bared his soul with a heartbreaking cover of ‘Say Something’ by Luara D for his second performance of the evening.

Teenage sensation Yanga then let her voice soar with ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Whitney Houston but still managed to stay vulnerable and soulful for her second performance of the day.

For his last performance of the day, Thato knocked it out of the park again with ‘Imibuzo’ by Nathi Mankayi and got lauded for picking songs that help him carve out his identity as a pop-star post-Idols.
