The Idols SA 2019 Top 10 Contestants have been revealed during today’s live show.
Our host ProVerb and the Idols SA season 15 Top 17 contestants opened the show in spectacular fashion with Aretha’s ‘R.E.S.P.E.C.T’ reminding us to to honour everyone’s right to basic, human dignity and respect.
Then judge Unathi Msengana and the legendary LadySmith Black Mambazo gave us a stirring rendition of ‘Halo Sana (Buya Mama)’.
Next were the Idols SA 2019 Top 17 contestants of Group A that demolished their performance after which it was time to dim the lights and find out who’s safe and who is heading home.
It was identical twin sisters Viggy Qwabe and Virginia Qwabe who were announced first as the contestants to have officially made it to this season’s Top 10, Mzansi’s beloved twins live to fight another day.
Next to make it to the Top 10 was Nolo Seodisha aka “teddy bear” thanks to all of your votes, at this point Andy Keys and Sizwe were not out of the running yet but had to wait backstage to see if they get the last, wild card save.
Your votes then put Dinky and Mmangaliso Gumbi in the Top 10, after which both ladies immediately bust into tears of joy, this now meant that Xola and Louise were in the danger zone, it was so emotional.
Shado M then stepped onto the Idols SA live stage and had us all on our feet feeling good and singing “Hey… Hey, Hey!” as she rocked the stage, that was just the medicine we needed because kutense.
We then needed to call the fire department after the Idols SA 2019 Top 17 contestants of Group B set the Idols SA live stage on fire with Ciara’s ‘LEVEL UP’, well at this point we were not ready to say goodbye to any of them.
Craig Jordaan and Zia Fielies shared a tender embrace after learning that they were not through to the Top 10 just yet, it was however 21 year old Nqobile Gumede who officially made it to Top 10. This meant Innocentia still had to wait a bit longer to learn her fate.
The next contestants to learn of their fate were Sneziey and Micayla Oelofse who first had to hold each other close except that they needn’t have worried because your votes had already saved both of them. At this point we all began to realise that tonight’s show was getting beyond emotional.
Luyolo Yiba was then officially the second male contestant to make the Idols SA 2019 Top 10, meaning it was now 9 spots down and 1 to go. Treasure Mngadi now had to wait backstage to find out whether he was going to take the final spot.
Idols SA season 13 winner Paxton Fielies then stepped onto the Idols SA live stage and looked like a goddess as she and Tresor performed ‘Kiss The Haze’, a song off Paxton’s album.
Next on the Idols SA live stage was Syleena Johnson, “Cause I am a woman…. So show some respect and treat me as such, oh yeah” she sang. Well this was such a powerful, relevant and poignant performance by the iconic songstress, it surely deeply moved us all.
We then had to find out who was going to take the final spot between Xola and Innocentia shortly after a commercial and as such, it was the end of the road for the rest of the phenomenal contestant who still had hope of making it to the Top 10.
Well guess what, it was an emotional Innocentia Sibi who rounded off the Idols SA 2019 Top 10 and sadly, it meant the end of the road for Xola Toto.
