Chris Watson is an Australian postman from Whittlesea, Victoria. He auditioned on The Voice Australia Season 12 in 2023.
He is 53 years old.
Chris informed the coaches (Rita Ora, Jason Derulo, Jessica Mauboy, and Guy Sebastian) that he did not enter the competition to win but rather applied to audition in the Blinds to inspire his daughter, Shanae Watson, to follow her passion.
“I only entered it realistically knowing I’m not marketable. I’m 53 years of age – what am I going to do? Go and sing in a pub that’s about it,” he said.
“But I did it hoping there would be a break for my daughter.
“It was just to show my daughter no matter how many times you get knocked back, you just keep getting up and having a go again.”
He told The Voice Australia Season 12 coaches that: “after a couple of knockbacks, she got down in the dumps about her singing.”
For his blind audition, Chris Watson performed “Jessie’s Girl” by Rick Springfield.
He did not turn any chairs.
