Top 3 Contestants of Idols SA 2022 (Season 18)

The Idols SA Season 18 Top 3 contestants have been revealed today on Sunday 30 October 2022 during episode 16 of the season.

Last week on Sunday 23 October 2022 during episode 15 of Idols SA Season 18, the Top 4 contestants performed two songs each under the themes, “New School Mzansi Hits” and “How It Should Have Been Done”.

The Idols SA Season 18 Top 3 contestants are; Nozi, Mpilwenhle and Thapelo.

Sadly, 21-year-old Ty Loner from Eldorado Park, Gauteng has been eliminated from Idols South Africa Season 18.

Idols SA 2022 Top 3 Performance

This Sunday, the Idols SA 2022 Top 3 contestants have each performed three songs. The songs are from the following themes; “Divas and Divos”, “My Audition Song” and “Judges’ Choice”.

Nozi

Nozi has really come a long way since the auditions and today for her first performance of the evening, she performed the very song that earned her a golden ticket during the auditions.

She performed “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R.

“You sounded like you were at your own concert.” Somizi Mhlongo thinks Nozi is ready for the big time once she is done with Idols SA.

For her second performance of the evening, Nozi tackled “Try A Little Tenderness” by Aretha Franklin and nailed it perfectly.

This song might as well have been written for her.

“You are a beast!” Nozi totally nailed her second live performance today and judge Somizi Mhlongo made sure she knew.

For her third and last performance of the evening, Nozi rose up for the judges’ choice by performing “Rise Up” by Andra Day.

Judge Somizi Mhlongo laid out the challenge, and Nozi took it up.

“You’ve done enough. Everything after this is in the hands of South Africa.” Somizi Mhlongo thinks that Nozi has proven herself over and over again. He was so impressed, he could barely open his eyes.

Mpilwenhle

For her first performance of the evening, Mpilwenhle performed the song that got her a golden ticket during the auditions.

She performed “Ke Mo Afrika” by Maleh.

“You’re a genius when it comes to music!” Thembi Seete handed out just about the best kind of praise you can get on the Idols SA live stage.

For her second performance of the evening, Mpilwenhle performed “Angel of Mine” by Monica and she hopes that her fans will be angels and send her some votes.

“I’m glad to see the happy Mpilwenhle!” Thembi Seete loved the content personality she saw on the Idols SA live stage during Mpilwenhle’s performance.

For her third and final performance of the night, Mpilwenhle picked a song that was chosen by judge Thembi Seete for the Idols SA 2022 Top 3 reveal.

Mpilwenhle performed “A Long Walk” by Jill Scott, and you the fans can make her walk on the show a little longer by voting for her this week.

“It was amazing! The vibes, everything you did – beautiful to watch!” Thembi Seete was clearly a fan of Mpilwenhle’s third performance tonight.

Thapelo

For his very first performance of the evening today, Thapelo got a second chance to perform his audition song, “Esphambanweni” by Kelly Khumalo.

Thapelo brought some local flavour to proceedings as he tackled this Kelly Khumalo song and nailed it like he did during the auditions.

“Your voice is going to move people. It’s going to move nations.” JR was hella impressed with Thapelo’s delivery on the Idols SA live stage.

For his second performance of the evening, Thapelo delivered the iconic “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Michael Bolton like it was easy on Sunday morning.

“World-class performances from world-class vocalists!” JR was blown away by the talent on Idols SA.

For his final live performance tonight, Thapelo proved why you don’t mess with the ‘Amazing’ Luther Vandross unless you have to.

This 29-year-old from 29, Mokopane, Limpopo performed “So Amazing” by Luther Vandross.

“Spot on, well done.” JR kept it short and sweet when complimenting Thapelo’s third performance tonight.

And by the way, no contestant chose judge JR’s songs for the Idols SA season 18 Top 3 reveal. He must be feeling left out.
