Springboks vs Argentina 2025: Line-ups, Prediction, Kick-off Time
The Springboks face Argentina for their penultimate Castle Lager Rugby Championship match at Hollywoodbets Kings Park in Durban.
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus opted for consistency in selection of the team, making minimal changes to the side that secured a record 43-10 victory against the All Blacks in Wellington less than two weeks ago.
Erasmus made only two personnel changes to his starting XV – which will be led by Siya Kolisi in what will mark his 97th Test – with the experienced Eben Etzebeth and Damian Willemse taking over from the injured Lood de Jager and Aphelele Fassi at lock and fullback. As a result, Damian de Allende returns at inside centre alongside Canan Moodie in an exciting midfield combination.
The three changes on the replacements bench, which again feature five forwards and three backs, are the inclusion of Boan Venter at prop, which sees Jan-Hendrik Wessels serve as the replacement hooker, while scrumhalf Morne van den Berg takes over from Grant Williams, who is nursing a niggle.
Players to watch
South Africa
For the Springboks, Damian Willemse stole the show against the All Blacks and is back to his best. His devastating runs from the back and combination with Cheslin Kolbe and Ethan Hooker is an exciting one when the game gets loose.
In the forwards, Ruan Nortje will be vital alongside Eben Etzebeth in the line-outs. The Boks’ success in that department hasn’t been great during this tournament, and a lot will come down to those two players in tandem with Malcolm Marx.
Argentina
For the Los Pumas, centre Santiago Chocobares is a slippery customer and can cut defensive structures open and get his outside backs into space.
In the forwards, it will be about the breakdown battle. The combination of Marcos Kremer, Pablo Matera and Joaquin Oviedo could cause havoc for the Boks, with all three players being able to fill every loose forward role.
