Season 15 Top 3 contestants in New York City for a trip
The Idols SA season 15 Top 3 contestants have been in New York City for a trip of three days to relax a little bit as they get ready for their live performances this Sunday.
Immediately after the Top 3 reveal live show on Sunday 3 November 2019, Sneziey Msomi, Luyolo Yiba and Micayla Oelofse jetted off to New York City together with Idols SA presenter, ProVerb.
Day One:
They arrived in New York on Monday 4 November late at night (South African time) but it was actually morning in New York so to fight the jetlag, they went sightseeing.
ProVerb and the Top 3 contestants visited the hauntingly beautiful 9/11 memorial.
The contestants then set off to check out Central Park on a horse-drawn carriage.
The Top 3 and ProVerb then got some time a few photo shoots in the middle of Manhattan.
And that was it for day one, ProVerb and the Top 3 then went for the night’s rest at the Millenium Hilton hotel which is in the prestigious neighbourhood of Mid-Town Manhattan close to New York Law School, the World Trade Centre memorial, Broadway street and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Day Two:
After getting some sightseeing done, they all took a break from exploring The Big Apple to put in a little work by polishing and perfecting what they were prepping for Sunday’s live show.
The Top 3 contestants practiced at the plush Rehearsal studio which is located in the upscale shopping district of SoHo, it is also just a stone’s throw away from the Millenium Hilton hotel where ProVerb and the Top 3 contestants spent their nights.
Day Three:
Idols SA sponsors, Old Mutual gave the Top 3 contestants some money, $1,000 each so they can treat themselves to a little retail therapy. Seeing as SoHo is one of New York’s most vibrant shopping hubs, here are details on what the Top 3 contestants spent their Old Mutual money on.
Day three was actually another eventful day for the contestants which saw them put in several hours of rehearsal plus a little sightseeing before traveling out of New York City for the first time since landing. The destination was an up-scale shopping complex in the small town of Woodbury where they got time to treat themselves to a shopping spree.
The Top 3 contestants also got challenged by ProVerb to buy gifts for the Judges with some of the $1,000 that they received from Old Mutual Bank, Micayla bought a gift for Randall Abrahams, Sneziey bought a gift for Unathi Nkayi and Luyolo bought a gift for Somizi Mhlongo.
The Top 3 handed over the gifts to the judges on Sunday 10 November 2019 at the beginning of the the Top 2 reveal live show.
And finally ProVerb and the Top 3 contestants had to say goodbye to New York and head back home in preparation for Sunday’s Top 2 reveal live show.
