Idols SA Season 18 Winner in 2022 is Thapelo Molomo

The winner of Idols South Africa Season 18 has been crowned tonight during a breathtaking Grand Finale.

Last week on Sunday 6 November 2022 during episode 17 of Idols SA Season 18, the Top 2 contestants, Nozi and Thapelo performed three songs each under the themes, “New singles”, “Stripped-down Mzansi classics” and “Favourite song of the season”.

During the Idols SA Season 18 finale this Sunday, the Top 2 contestants still performed for the judges and a fully packed Heartfelt Arena in Gauteng.

The Idols SA Season 18 Winner is Thapelo Molomo, he was crowned on Sunday 13 November 2022 during Episode 18 of the season.

As a result of being voted the Idols SA 2022 winner, Thapelo became an instant millionaire getting himself a 1 million Rand cash prize, a recording deal from Kalawa Jazmee Records and a couple of other prizes.

Thapelo thanked his fans and the Almighty God for supporting him throughout the entire Idols SA competition, he tweeted;

All honour and glory be unto God. Family, we are officially crowned Idols SA winner of Season 18, 2022. All this is because of the mighty God we serve. We have seen his power and ability. Thank you family for all your votes and support throughout. I have seen your love

The Limpopo Provincial Government congratulated their son by tweeting;

The Idols SA Season 18 runner-up is 27-year-old Nozi Sibiya from Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal.

Idols SA Season 18 Finale Performances

The Idols SA Season 18 finale was kicked off by the Idols SA 2022 Top 10 contestants who performed their own rendition of “Bloody Samaritan” by Ayra Starr.

Rappers AKA and Idols SA judge JR Bogopa then stepped on the Idols SA live stage and performed a medley of songs that included the 2014 chart-topping hit single, “All Eyes On Me”.

Next on stage was Kalawa Jazmee’s Oskido alongside artists, Mthandazo Gatya, Deep Sen and King Talkzin, they performed their 2022 single, “Sathane”.

Idols SA Season 17 winner, Berry then performed her 2022 single “Unspoken Words” alongside South African singer and composer, Lily Faith.

Idols SA Season 18 runner-up, Nozi then stepped on stage for a repeat performance of her own rendition of “Don’t Stop The Music” by Barbadian singer and actress Rihanna.

The Idols SA Season 18 eventual winner, Thapelo then performed “Di Boya Limpopo” by Master KG. As usual, Thapelo didn’t disappoint with this performance as he dismantled and refashioned this song into his own musical monster.

Up next on the Idols SA live stage was Boom Shaka, one of the greatest groups of the kwaito era and the history of South African music. Boom Shaka reunited for a special Idols SA performance of their 90’s hit single, “It’s About Time”.

Next on stage was Nelspruit’s very own, Costa Titch, who proved his performance prowess by doing justice to his hit single “Big Flexa” alongside amapiano star Alfa Kat.

Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo then flipped the judging panel and took to the stage for a live performance that saw Idols SA presenter, ProVerb, step up for a guest verse. Somizi performed his own rendition of “Industry Baby” by Lil Nas X.

D’banj, a Nigerian national treasure, a judge on Nigerian Idol and one of the most celebrated African acts of recent times, then blessed Idols SA stage with that Naija energy as he performed his 2013 massive hit single, “Oliver Twist”.

The Idols SA Season 18 Top 2 contestants, Nozi and Thapelo then teamed up for a duet. They performed “Lift Me Up” by Rihanna, a cover from the new Black Panther film.

After being announced as the Idols SA Season 18 winner, Thapelo Molomo then soaked up the Idols SA love one last time to celebrate his big victory by performing his debut single “Phanda Phanda”.
