Idols SA 2021 (Season 17) Episode 9: Top 16 Group B Performances

The second live show of season 17 took place on Sunday 5 September 2021 in episode 9.

The episode 9 guest judge was non other than the talented Buhle Mda who gave us quotables such as ‘bathong wena’ and then… ‘oksalayo!’. She’s walking, breathing, living content.

Our Group B contestants of the Top 16 were looking and moving like superstars as they opened the evening with a group performance of “My Power” by Beyoncé.

Siya Motloung then wrapped his warm vocal cords around “In Your Eyes” by The Weeknd and it got us all in the feels as our eyes were fixed on him.

Up next on stage was Zukisa M who generated goosebumps from the Idols SA stage with a beautiful rendition of “Distance” by Yebba, his performance was gentle and hypnotic and we are sure this young man has already changed the the minds of Mzansi.

Then came Misty who sounded gorgeous on stage as she performed Snoh Aalegra’s soulful “Dying For Your Love”.

We then witnessed Karabo Mathe cruise through “Stand Up For Something” by Andra Day Ft. Common, she definitely stood up for something and that something was herself.

Looking and sounding super-fresh, S’22kile took on Bebe Rexha’s “Meant To Be” in a way that was unique and original.

Monique Erens then went stellar on the Idols SA stage with a heartfelt and dynamic take on Lady Gaga’s “I’ll Never Love Again”.

Resident Idols SA storyteller, Ithana waltzed through the words on Chloe x Halle’s “Forgive Me” like the natural talent she is.

Kevin Maduna then closed the live show in style with a unique spin on Justin Bieber’s “Peaches”.
